J.R.Brown Associates, Construction Cost Consultants are a
small practice with BIG ideas. We offer a full cost and 
contract control service to all clients within the 
construction industry in the UK and Europe.
Since its foundation the practice has dealt with a wide 
variety of construction and allied projects, mainly 
specialising in the hotel, leisure, and luxury residential 
markets, with the accent on the use of computer technology 
to enable a fast and efficient response to our clients 
needs, coupled with a flexibility to accomodate the changing 
needs of modern construction. Whilst the practice is small 
in terms of its manpower resources we have formed 
associations with other established quantity surveyors to 
provide a common pool of resources, linked by modern 
computer technology to give us the additional resources 
required for each individual project, whilst still 
maintaining the personalised service that our clients have 
come to expect from us.
The commitment made to information technology and modern 
communication methods has enabled the practice to provide a 
full service to our clients, whilst enabling a competitive 
and cost effective fee base for the work undertaken.

SO, WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE?

1)QUANTITY SURVEYING / CONSTRUCTION COST CONTROL

a) Preparation of feasibility statements, cost plans and 
initial budgets to enable our clients to decide on the 
nature, scope and scale of their projects.
b) Value engineering to ensure construction design follows 
the outlines of the original cost plan / feasibility study 
and continuing project monitoring to maintain value for money.
c) Preparation of documents for tendering purposes to ensure 
competitive value for money costs are maintained.
d) Analysis of tenders received and recommendations as to 
the best value for money.
e) Drafting and preparation of forms of contract to best 
suit the client’s requirements.
f) Monitoring and reporting on post contract activities, 
valuation of works in progress and issue of interim payment
recommendations.
g) Finalisation and agreement of Final Account and issue of
final payment recommendations. 

2) INSURANCE VALUATIONS

a)Preparation of valuations of re-construction costs for the 
purposes of insurance of existing buildings.
b)Advice on insurance valuations and procedure.


3) CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATING

a)Preparation of contractors tender documentation from 
designers specifications and / or drawings.
b)Preparation of construction budgets to provide 
contractor's clients with advance budget cost information.
c)Post contract cost monitoring to ensure correct recovery 
of contractor's costs.

4) PLANNING SUPERVISOR SERVICES

a)Preparation of initial Health and Safety Plans for tender
purposes.
b)Preparation of Health and Safety Plans for on going 
projects and all services required for Planning Supervison 
as required by the Construction (Design and Management) 
Regulations.

5) ADJUDICATION ADVICE AND EXPERT WITNESS SERVICES

a)Advice on adjudications, and provision of expert 
statements and mediation services as required under the 
adjudication contract conditions.
b)Provision of expert witness advice on costs for all forms 
of contract litigation.
